What Is an Emergency Passport?
An Emergency Passport is a short-term travel document issued by PICA for urgent, unavoidable travel. It is valid for only one trip and usually has a limited validity (e.g. 6 months).
When Can You Apply for One?
You can apply if:
- Your passport is lost or stolen and you have to travel urgently
- Your passport is damaged or expired and you can’t wait for regular processing
- You’re dealing with a medical emergency, death in the family, or critical business abroad
Step 1: Visit or Contact PICA Immediately
Emergency passports are only issued in person through PICA. Go to the head office or nearest regional office.

Step 2: Bring the Required Documents
Have these ready for faster processing:
- Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, voter’s ID, etc.)
- TRN (Taxpayer Registration Number)

- Two certified passport-sized photos
- Completed passport application form (adult or child)

Step 3: Pay the Emergency Passport Fee
